Call for Volunteers for ABT1

Athletes, Parents, and Canoe & Kayak enthusiasts,

The first of two 2024 Alberta Team trial events will be held at Telford Lake in Leduc on Sunday, May 26, 2024. This is a provincial event and will assist ASRCA (Alberta Sprint Racing Canoe Association) with the ongoing assessment of provincial sprint canoe and kayak competitors and to utilize the results to nominate athletes for Provincial Teams.

We are looking for volunteers to help run the event.

The event will comprise C1 and K1 races over the distances of 200m and 2000m. More information on the event can be found here.

We require a total of about 25 volunteers for the following positions:

  • Power boat drivers (valid Boat Operators License required);

  • On-water officials/ referees;

  • On-water safety boat assistants;

  • Starter;

  • Assistant Starter;

  • Boat control official;

  • Boat control assistants;

  • Finish Line Judges & Timers (at the finish line for timing & position tracking);

  • Video Operator (at the finish line to record the races);

  • Competition Secretary (to record & post results);

  • Competition Secretary Assistant (to help with results entry);

  • Athlete Lunch volunteers.

Please note that you do not require any previous experience to volunteer for any of the above positions.
