June 4th Alberta Team Trials : Calling for volunteers
The first of two 2022 Alberta Team trial events will be held at the Calgary Canoe Club on Saturday, June 4, 2022. This is a provincial event and will assist ASRCA (Alberta Sprint Racing Canoe Association) with the ongoing assessment of provincial sprint canoe and kayak competitors and to utilize the results to nominate athletes for Provincial Teams.
The event will comprise C1 and K1 races over the distances of 200m, 500 and 1000m. More information on the event can be found at https://asrca.com/pages/abt1-june-4-2022
Volunteers needed to help run the event.
We require a total of 25 volunteers for the following positions:
- Power boat drivers (valid Boat Operators License required);
- On-water officials/ referees;
- On-water safety boat assistants;
- Assistant Starter;
- Boat control official;
- Boat control assistants;
- Finish Line Judges & Timers (in the Finish tower for timing & position tracking);
- Video Operator (in the Finish tower to record the races);
- Competition Secretary (to record & post results);
- Result Runners;
- Regatta Safety Officer;
- Athlete Lunch volunteers.
It is planned to hold an introductory officials training session in the week prior to the event (i.e. one evening in the week of May 30 – June 3) at the Calgary Canoe Club. The training session will be about 60-90 minutes. More details about exact date and time of the training will follow shortly. Please note that you do not require any previous experience to volunteer for any of the positions above.
We greatly appreciate if you can volunteer and help that this event will run smoothly and provide a good experience for all the athletes. Your time and support will be valued by athletes, coaches and organizers alike.
