Job Opportunity: Coaches

The Alberta Sprint Racing Canoe Association (ASRCA) is seeking coaches for the Kayak Kids program in 2025. The Kayak Kids program provides canoe/kayak summer camps to communities across Alberta in July and August. 

Qualifications:

  • Successfully completed NCCP CanoeKids

  • Standard First Aid and Level C CPR Certification

  • Successfully completed Safe Sport Training and maintain Level 3 SafeSport 

  • Permanent resident of Canada

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Design & deliver lessons and schedule activities

  • Teach specific paddling skills and fitness to prepare participants for local competition

  • Supervise and lead youth during the week

  • Monitor and enforce appropriate participant behavior

  • Oversee use and storage of equipment, perform repairs for equipment as required

  • Communicate with parents of participants

  • Ability to travel across Alberta as needed. Currently, locations include Lacombe, Grande Prairie, and the Calgary area. Reimbursement will follow the ASRCA Travel Policy

  • Will be required to stay on site at coaching facility locations (cost of accommodations are covered as required).

Preference will be given to individuals with previous canoe/kayaking coaching experience.

The coaches will report and work under the direct supervision of the Program Administrator and Program Coordinator.

The coaches will be required to be onsite at the following locations:

Lacombe Lake (between Blackfalds and Lacombe, Alberta): July 7-11 and July 14-18

Bear Lake (near Grande Prairie): July 21-25 and July 28-August 1

Mckenzie Lake (Calgary): August 18-22

Lake Chaparral (Calgary): August 25-29
