Canada Summer Games Staff Expression of Interest
The Alberta Sprint Racing Canoe Association is looking for individuals interested in filling the staff requirements for the Canada Summer Games (CSG) in St. John’s, NL in August 2025. These are important and crucial roles to prepare and lead Team Alberta in Canoe Kayak at CSG 2025.
The 2025 CSG Team Alberta will be composed of 18 athletes, 9 females and 9 males. Canoe Kayak is currently scheduled for the first week of Canada Summer Games, from August 8-17, 2025.
ASRCA is seeking individuals for the following CSG staff positions:
Head Coach: 1 position
The Head Coach named on the official registration form must be certified under the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Competition Stream, Development Context (certified status) in Canoe Kayak.
Assistant Coach: 1 position
The Assistant Coach named on the official registration form must be trained under the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Competition Stream, Development Context (trained status) in Canoe Kayak.
Notes for Coach positions:
- Coaches must be trained/certified no later than 90 days prior to the opening ceremony (May 11, 2025).
- “NCCP Competition-Development Certified, Not Renewed” / “NCCP Competition-Development Trained, Not Renewed” does not qualify under the coaching standards for the 2025 Canada Summer Games.
- Coaches must be willing and able to participate in activities/events leading up to CSG 2025. The tentatively scheduled ASRCA events include an overnight Ski Camp (Jan. 18-19) and Fitness Testing.
Technical Support: 1 position
The Technical Support is responsible for providing technical support to the athletes. Support coaches, assist with equipment (boats and paddles) and must have sport specific experience.
Individuals chosen to fulfill these positions must:
- Attend CSG in St. John’s, NL alongside Team Alberta from August 8-17, 2025. Must be available to attend for the full time period, with no exceptions.
- Be involved in pre-CSG Canada Summer Games activities, such as meetings, and events.
- Complete the Canada Games Coaching eLearning module available in The Locker (under Multi-sport).
Please note that these positions are volunteer, with CSG funds covering all travel, hotel, and food expenses.
