Job opportunity: Kayak Kids Program Coordinator

The Alberta Sprint Racing Canoe Association (ASRCA) is seeking 1 Program Coordinator for the Kayak Kids program in 2026. The Kayak Kids program provides canoe/kayak summer camps for children ages 7-12. This role will include preparation in May and onsite program management from June to August. 

This position will be part-time in May and then will become a full time position in June, July and August. 

Qualifications:

  • National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Competition Stream, Entry Level Competitive Coach (certified status), with a preference given to Canoe Kayak certification

  • Standard First Aid and Level C CPR Certification

  • Pleasure Craft Operator Licence

  • Successfully completed Safe Sport Training and maintain Level 3 SafeSport clearance

  • Experience coaching youth in sprint canoe/kayak

  • Permanent resident of Canada

  • 18 years of age or older


Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Outreach and networking with communities across Alberta (online and in person) interested in implementing Kayak Kids programming in their area

  • Organize and assist with “Try-it” days, school programming, or other group programming for youth

  • Develop schedules and activities for the Kayak Kids program

  • Communicate with parents of participants

  • Coach, train, oversee, and mentor junior coaches

  • Act as the main coach for the program, teaching participants the skills required in the sport of sprint canoe/kayak

  • Provide a post-analysis report of the season

  • Ability to travel across Alberta as needed. Reimbursement will follow the ASRCA Travel Policy

  • Will be required to stay on site at coaching facility locations (cost of accommodation are covered for those that do not reside in the area)


The Program Coordinator will work closely with the coaches and the Program Administrator. The Program Coordinator will report and work under the direct supervision of the ASRCA President.
